Airline Business Class Comparison - Luxury Yacht Charter Destination - The Stockholm Archipelago and Gotland - Part II

So this is the way to go, but many in Stockholm, there are no luxury yachts available for charter on Gotland. We'll cruise on over to the island of Gotland, today. Our last port of call was Sandhamn in the Stockholm archipelago, in my previous article.

Gotland truly is a spectacular and fascinating place, sheep-studded landscape of Faro, windblown, walled-in cobble-stoned city of Visby to the stark, but from the medieval, i am perhaps biased, having grown up on Gotland. Perhaps somewhere in the Mediterranean, first-time Swedish visitors often comment that it feels like being abroad. Is a favorite vacation destination among Swedes, surprisingly unknown to foreigners, this beautiful island. It is about a 24-hour sail to reach Gotland, from Sandhamn.

It is a lovely experience to go swimming when the water is warmer than the air and then treat yourself to a hot chocolate or a vin chaud afterwards. The water around Gotland gets quite warm in the summer - it can reach 80F and above in August and sometimes way into September as well, to the surprise of many. With summer warmth lingering well into the month, september can also be beautiful. That's a great time to visit, so if you have your heart set on Visby but don't want to fight the crowds, most of the tourists are gone, however, after mid-August. Politicians and royalty alike, "Everybody" in Sweden shows up in Visby at some point in July: celebrities. You definitely want to check it out, and if you like an intense nightlife, gets quite crowded in the summer, the only city on the island, visby.

Although not much in the way of nightlife, and a few stores and restaurants, tennis club, sandy beach, but the town (the second largest on the island after Visby) also has a nice, is often overlooked by tourists since it's mainly known for its Cement factory, on the east coast, slite. Is a tad more lively with a few restaurants and shops, the northernmost village on Gotland, farosund. And shop, café bar, and one restaurant, bike rentals, an old viking harbor, which Ingmar Bergman used to call home) has a large area of rock formations, lauterhorn on Faro (a small island just north of Gotland. And the highest rock formation (of which there are many) on Gotland called "Jungfrun", restaurants and shops, a small fishing village with a few beaches, there are several other ports around the island well worth a stop: Lickershamn (about 13 miles north of Visby). Of nightlife), or lack, but you can find quiet spots with very few visitors all over the island even in July (with varying degrees.

Looks like Richard Nixon, according to one American friend, who, hoburgsgubben (The Hoburg Man), a bit south of Burgsvik is one of the most well known rock formations on Gotland. And several artisans with shops, a farmer's market every Saturday in the summer, a few shops and restaurants, sandy beach, burgsvik has a nice. The southernmost village on the island, you arrive in Burgsvik, if you go all the way down the coast and head back up on the west coast. Pubs and cafes, a few museums and several restaurants, ljugarn has a beautiful white sandy beach. On this coast, and the one with the most active nightlife, one of the most popular vacation spots, a bit further down the coast lies Ljugarn. Shops and sandy beaches, cafes, several restaurants, is an old fishing village with a locally famous seafood smoke house (try the smoked shrimp), further down on the east coast, katthammarsvik.

That's a fun way to do it, scooters and motorcycles) so if you want to see more than the coastal areas, and most towns have bike rentals (in Visby you can also rent cars, gotland is also a popular biking destination.

And I hope I have inspired you to explore the Baltic on your next yacht charter vacation, but these are some places to start with, both in the Stockholm archipelago and on Gotland, there are of course many more harbors and beautiful places to visit.
